Goodbye Texas Hill Country and welcome AUSTIN!!!
We made it! Another well deserved day of rest! Whew! Another great day of riding and dropping out of hill country. Just like yesterday the terrain was rolling and the "skies were not cloudy all day". One half day of clouds and temps in the middle 90's. A crosswind and sometimes tail wind kept the ride less warm but not quite cool. Everyone was excited about arriving in Austin so they rode just a bit harder with less rose smelling. The traffic naturally increased as we entered the Austin city limits.
I failed to mention that last night Charlie Graham from Amarillo visited us at the campground. He is doing the fall Southern Tier and wanted to chat with riders and see the gear we were using. What a great man with HUGE TEXAS HOSPITALITY. He invited us all out to a Texas steak dinner upon arrival in Austin. Mark from BikeTexas also joined us for dinner and shared the mission of BikeTexas with us as well as some cool places to see while in town. A great evening of stories was had by all not to mention the best ribeye I have ever had. We ate at ALC Steaks.
A day of rest tomorrow and everyone is doing their own thing for the day. I am meeting a high school friend I haven't talk to for twenty years! Totally excited! Also doing IHOP with co-leader Dave In the morning.
