May 10: Tallahassee, Fl - Layover Day - 0 Miles

Awesome, awesome, awesome! That is how I would describe our last rest day on the tour. Only 6 more riding days remaining before we enter St. Augustine on May 16th. Based on a recommendation from Will and Mary Ann Koos (I mentioned them yesterday), we loaded into the van and drove 15 miles to Wakullah Springs SP. Breathtakingly beautiful park with a spring fed river. You could see the bottom of the river 40 ft below! Alligators everywhere! There was diving platforms, a swimming area, restaurant, and a 45 minute river tour of the river with a very informative guide. We saw it all! Jumping fish, snakes, gators, deer, osprey, blue heron, other herons, wood ducks, mallard ducks, common birds, mullets, garfish, everything but the manatee. This place is definitely a MUST SEE when riding through the Tallahassee. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

At the end of the day, we joined Mary Ann and Will for dinner at Chez Pierre, for a very nice french meal. We bid them a very gracious and fond farewell as we journeyed back to the motel for a good night rest. Tomorrow we head for Montecello, FL (named after Thomas Jefferson's home) on a 50 mile ride. We are in search of the next spring that Mary Ann told us about in Wicissa, FL.
