May 2-3: New Orleans, LA - 0 miles

What happens in New Orleans, stays in New Orleans! The group had an awesome time in The Big Easy for our layover day. We used Poplarville, MS as our home base and shuttled the 1 1/2 hours to the city in the morning of the 2nd. We decided to go in comfort so we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on Julia street downtown. A wise move as we were only about ten blocks from everything! Although we cycled 0 miles, we surely walked at least 5-10 before we left the city. We did it all... Muffuletta from Central Grocery, Beignets from Cafe Du Monde, many walks down Bourbon street (day, evening, and night), museums, shops, fine dining, brew pubs, walks along the Mississippi River, trolley rides, pralines, swimming in the pool and enjoying the hottub, the list goes on and on. We really lived it up in Nawlins.

By the time we arrived back in camp the temps had dropped to the mid 50's and we bundled up for a cool evening. We top off the day with a trip to the local Chinese buffet for dinner.

We begin our last two weeks of the trip tomorrow as we head toward Vancleave, MS and on toward Alabama... roll Tide!
